Dual Approach for Glaucoma
Secondary Glaucoma can be result of decreased removal of fluid from internal eye, Uveitis (Inflamation of internal eye), Displacement of lens, eye cancer, and chronic retinal detachment. Major effect of Glaucoma includes increase in TOP antra Ocular Pressure) which is painful. The normal IOP is between 40-20 mmHg whereas in dogs & cats Glaucoma often results in increased pressure up to 30-50 mmHg. It can result in decreased activity such as less desire to play, Irritability, and decreased appetite. It also causes constant headache or migraine. Animal shows pain in a different way. If the pressure of eye remains uncontrolled the optic nerve and retina degenerates and vision is permanently lost.
How to Use
Turn the face of pet upward, Pull the lower eyelid to make a pouch and put 1-2 drops in the eye. Gently close the eye for 1-2 minutes, place one finger at the corner of your pet’s eye and apply pressure gently. Clean the outer area of eyes with a clean & dry tissue to remove tears and excess medicine if dropped out. Avoid contact with eyes. If you are using another kind of eye medication (e.g., drops or ointments), wait at least 10 minutes before application. Use eye drops before eye ointments to allow the eye drops to enter the eye.
Special Precautions :
If your pet has previous history of diabetes or heart problems, combination of Dorzolamide and Timolol drops may hide sign of Low Blood Sugar such as rapid heartbeat, sweaty, weak, dizziness, drowsiness or faint. Sometimes it may cause headache, chills or tremors. Need to monitor blood sugar closely. If over dose is suspected it may cause slow or irregular heartbeat.
